Summary/Objective: The IT Coordinator supports Disability Rights Louisiana’s technology operations by maintaining core systems, assisting staff with day-to-day technical needs, ensuring data accuracy within DRLA’s case management database, and coordinating directly with DRLA’s third-party IT provider. This role provides hands-on support for staff across DRLA offices, as well as remote and field-based employees, ensuring systems run effectively to support DRLA’s statewide advocacy mission. The IT Coordinator is not responsible for developing IT policy or managing cybersecurity strategy but plays a key role in implementing established protocols, supporting secure technology use, and ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Systems Administration & Database Support
• Maintain and update DRLA’s case management database, including user permissions, data accuracy checks, and basic configuration changes
• Support system integration needs by coordinating updates or adjustments with Third Party IT Provider or other vendors.
• Assist with onboarding/offboarding tasks such as account creation, access setup, and equipment assignment.
• Monitor system performance and escalate issues requiring vendor-level intervention.
• Vendor Coordination
• Direct all hardware, software, connectivity, email, mobile device, printing problems, and security-related concerns to Third Party IT Provider.
• Coordinate all IT service requests, tickets, and escalations to Third Party IT Provider and track follow-up until completion.
• Communicate system needs, outages, or user issues clearly and promptly to Third Party IT Provider.
• Assist with scheduling vendor-supported updates, installations, or system maintenance windows.
• Maintain documentation related to vendor requests and outcomes.
General Responsibilities
• Support implementation of DRLA’s privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity protocols as established by DRLA leadership and Third Party IT Provider.
• Create simple, user-friendly guides for staff on key systems, tools, and processes.
• Maintain updated documentation of internal processes, instructions, and system changes.
• Offer annual or bi-annual refresher training sessions when tools or workflows change.
• Maintain an organized inventory of equipment, devices, and accessories.
• Assist with equipment setup for meetings, presentations, and remote collaboration.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or a relevant field required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience providing IT support, database management, or systems administration in an office or nonprofit environment.
• Experience collaborating with third-party IT vendors or managed service providers (MSPs).
• Working knowledge of cloud-based systems such as Google Workspace and case management software. Sage experience preferred.
• Familiarity with secure computing practices, AI, and data privacy protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
Work Environment & Demands:
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• May involve standing or walking for extended periods while some tasks may require bending, stooping, or reaching.
• Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and various digital devices.
• Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.

Receptionist

Summary/Objective: The receptionist is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support for Disability Rights Louisiana and assisting with the client intake process. As the organization’s most front-facing employee, the Receptionist is expected to conduct their duties with a high level of professionalism and courtesy that helps DRLA conduct its core business and build and maintain positive relationships with its visitors, callers, clients, and vendors. This role requires adherence to Disability Rights Louisiana’s mission, compliance obligations under federal and state law, and alignment with collective bargaining and handbook requirements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Maintain a consistent and welcoming presence at the front desk during normal business hours.
• Answers and routes telephones; assisting callers.
• Retrieves and forwards voice messages, emails, and faxes to agency staff.
• Performs initial telephone intake screening and documents all necessary information into the case management database.
• Provides general information to callers who do not seek legal or advocacy assistance.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for individuals walking into the office seeking assistance, gathering basic information to pass along to the intake staff.
• Accepting packages, service of process, or other deliveries that arrive and promptly deliver to staff.
• Provides clerical support to agency staff.
• Maintains correspondence filing system.
• Processes incoming and outgoing mail and maintains postage system.
• Prepares all envelope sized packages to be sent via FedEx and provides necessary information to staff for sending larger packages.
• Ensure that outgoing mail is brought to the post office or delivered to the mail carrier in a timely fashion.
• Organizes and maintains office equipment and office supplies.
• Executes monthly postage and copier grant total reports.
• Meet regularly with staff from the Legal and Community Advocacy departments to share, receive feedback about, and continuously improve the mail and intake processes.
• Attend legal department team meetings and intake department team meetings to provide input.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education, Experience, & Qualifications:
• High school diploma: some college preferred.
• Ability to handle multi-line phone system.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Two to four years clerical/administrative experience.
• Prior experience in a law office preferred.
• Spanish fluency in oral and written communication preferred.
• Detail oriented and well organized.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Strong computer skills including spreadsheet, word-processing and database programs.
• Ability to pass a Louisiana State Police background check.
Work Environment & Demands:

Staff Attorney
Location: New Orleans
Disability Rights Louisiana (DRLA) has an immediate opening for a Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (“PABSS”) focused Staff Attorney to join our Legal Team. Are you passionate and dedicated to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities? The ideal candidate has demonstrated a strong commitment to public interest law and social justice, an interest in learning disability rights law, an understanding of social security law, and exceptional legal and advocacy skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The PABSS focused Staff Attorney is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of DRLA’s individual and systemic litigation, providing legal advice and assistance, including
direct representation in court and administrative proceedings, in accordance with DRLA’s priorities to individuals seeking assistance from the DRLA particularly for PABSS eligible matters, and maintaining an active caseload on disability-related PABSS-eligible issues in administrative, state. and federal court.
CORE JOB DUTIES
- Assist in the development and execution of DRLA’s individual and systemic litigation:
- Assist in the identification of litigation opportunities across the state.
- Promote and assist in ongoing development of litigation on disability rights issues.
- Provide legal advice and assistance, including direct representation in court and administrative proceedings, in accordance with DRLA’s PABSS priorities to individuals seeking assistance from the DRLA. - Securing services from community agencies, including Employment Networks providing services under the Ticket to Work program;
- Helping people who are entitled to benefits understand Work Incentives and issues with their disability benefits;
- Protecting beneficiaries’ rights regarding conditions of employment;
- Helping beneficiaries understand and protect their employment rights, responsibilities and reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable laws;
- Protecting rights to transportation;
- Protecting access to housing assistance; and
- Obtaining vocational rehabilitation and employment related services and supports.
- Maintain an active caseload of representation on behalf of people with disabilities on disability-related PABSS eligible issues in state and federal court.
- Stay current with relevant changes in state and federal law.
- Maintain continuing legal education requirements as required by the Louisiana Bar and attend trainings to maintain and improve or refine advocacy skills and substantive knowledge.
- Provide necessary direction and supervision for non-attorney legal advocates as needed.
- Provide input in the planning and evaluation of the legal work of the agency as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Active Louisiana State Bar license, in good standing.
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and serving marginalized communities.
- One to five years of experience in public interest law and/or issues related to age or disability preferred.
- A commitment to enforcing and expanding the rights of people with disabilities across Louisiana through individual and systemic litigation.
- Strong analytical skills and a willingness to develop and implement litigation strategies to advance the law and address systemic problems.
- Strong legal research and writing skills with the ability to draft complex briefs, pleadings and motions.
- Experience with social security benefits and related issues is preferred.
- Experience conducting depositions and trial work preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish or other language preferred.
- Ability to travel is required.
