Disability Rights Louisiana Welcomes New Director of Community Advocacy

Disability Rights Louisiana is proud to announce that Debra Weinberg has been named our new Director of Community Advocacy. Ms. Weinberg has worked at DRLA/Advocacy Center since July 2010, most recently as a Managing Attorney. She has represented people with disabilities in administrative hearings, mediation, state complaint proceedings, and federal court on a variety of issues, with a focus on Medicaid and Special Education.

Ms. Weinberg has trained doctors, medical students and residents, attorneys, judges, court staff, advocates, social workers, and parents on special education and disability-related issues. Prior to this work at DRLA/Advocacy Center, she served as an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow at the Louisiana Bar Foundation in collaboration with DRLA/Advocacy Center, focusing on special education for children with disabilities.

Ms. Weinberg earned her J.D. in the Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy at The University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law.
