DRLA’s Client Assistance Program (CAP) successfully advocated for the reimbursement of school related expenses by Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) to a client who is a college student. CAP also advocated for the development of an appropriate Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) reflecting the client’s goal of college training.
As a result of CAP’s involvement, DRLA’s client was reimbursed approximately $9,500.00 by LRS and a new IPE was developed. The client’s expenses reimbursed included costs for computer hardware, software, and living expenses incurred during the onset of Covid-19 restrictions, including meals. LRS also agreed to reimburse client for the cost of the client’s MCAT exam.
