Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities releases three more memos regarding rule changes for COVID-19

The State of Louisiana’s Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD), under the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), has released three more memos today containing rule changes for Medicaid waiver recipients for the duration of the COVID-19 Declaration of Emergency:

  • Leave Policy for ICF/IID – Louisiana Medicaid has requested and received approval for an exemption to the 45 home leave day limitation for Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) providers. This exemption allows families to take an individual home for self-isolation or self-quarantine during the COVID-19 event without penalty to the provider agency or individual supported.

  • Background Checks Waived for Family Members Given Permission to Become Temporary Workers – Effective immediately, a background check for immediate family members who have been granted permission to be temporary employees does not have to be completed. This applies only where an exception has been made for a family member who lives in the same home as the recipient, and is allowed to become a paid staff during the COVID-19 Emergency only.
