MINOR’S RIGHTS
All minors are guaranteed the following rights, unless their rights have been limited as part of their treatment plan.
- The right to be protected from abuse and neglect
- The right to make complaints without being scared of punishment or other consequences
- The right to an attorney & the right to speak privately with your attorney
- The right to receive and send letters
- The right to be given opportunities to receive & make telephone calls
- The right to receive visitors.
- The right to speak privately with your parent or guardian.
- The right to be free from discrimination or segregation.
- The right to wear your own clothes & keep personal things including money
- The right to participate in religious services, but not be forced to attend.
- The right to adequate and appropriate food.
- The right to receive health care.
- The right to an opportunity for recreation and leisure.
