MINOR’S RIGHTS

All minors are guaranteed the following rights, unless their rights have been limited as part of their treatment plan.

  • The right to be protected from abuse and neglect
  • The right to make complaints without being scared of punishment or other consequences
  • The right to an attorney & the right to speak privately with your attorney
  • The right to receive and send letters
  • The right to be given opportunities to receive & make telephone calls
  • The right to receive visitors.
  • The right to speak privately with your parent or guardian.
  • The right to be free from discrimination or segregation.
  • The right to wear your own clothes & keep personal things including money
  • The right to participate in religious services, but not be forced to attend.
  • The right to adequate and appropriate food.
  • The right to receive health care.
  • The right to an opportunity for recreation and leisure.
